Excel 2004 (Mac)

Back to Techportal

Microsoft Excel is a program for entering numerical values or data into rows or columns of a spreadsheet for such things as calculations, graphs, and statistical analysis. The grid is useful for creating lists containing text items, as well.

For the past several years, RCPS has been using Microsoft Office version 2003 on Windows computers and 2004 on Macintosh computers. Typical files created in these versions end in .doc (Word), .ppt (Powerpoint), and .xls (Excel). Microsoft released version 2007 for Windows and 2008 for Macintosh which create documents in a newer format: .docx (Word), .pptx (Powerpoint), and .xlsx (Excel). RCPS computers which still have Office 2003 or Office 2004 cannot open the documents created by the newest versions. If your computer does not have an automatic converter installed, go to this website for a free conversion: http://www.zamzar.com/ You can also request that the automatic converter be installed on your computer.
