II. For each of the eight Technology Standards for Instructional Personnel listed below, indicate your level of competence. IMPORTANT: The eight Technology Standards for Instructional Personnel are mandated by the Code of Virginia but the Sample Indicators are not. They are simply to give the viewer an idea of the skills associated with each standard and should not be considered as a required nor exhaustive list of skills appropriate for the standard.
1. Instructional personnel shall be able to demonstrate effective use of a computer system and utilize computer software.
SAMPLE INDICATORS:
I can comfortably demonstrate this standard. I do not need additional training to achieve it.
I can demonstrate most of the skills associated with this standard but still need some training to achieve it.
I cannot demonstrate many of the skills associated with this standard. I definitely need training to achieve it.
2. Instructional personnel shall be able to apply knowledge of terms associated with educational computing and technology.
SAMPLE INDICATORS Being able to define terms such as:

I understand most of the terms associated with educational computing and technology. I need some additional training for the others.
I do not understand many of the terms associated with educational computing and technology. I definitely need training to learn about them.
3. Instructional personnel shall be able to apply computer productivity tools for professional use.
4. Instructional personnel shall be able to use electronic technologies to access and exchange information.
5. Instructional personnel shall be able to identify, locate, evaluate, and use appropriate instructional hardware and software to support Virginia's Standards of Learning and other instructional objectives.
6. Instructional personnel shall be able to use educational technologies for data collection, information management, problem solving, decision making, communication, and presentation within the curriculum.
7. Instructional personnel shall be able to plan and implement lessons and strategies that integrate technology to meet the diverse needs of learners in a variety of educational settings.
