Rockingham School Construction (Part 2---1925-1928)

 

1925

Mt. Clinton. 7 rooms and auditorium. State plans and supervision. Patron pay 1/10 cost. John E. Lee, foreman. Cost $25,000

Grottoes. 6 rooms and auditorium. State plans and supervision. Eutsler Brothers, contractor. People pay 1/10 cost and furnish money without interest to Board for a period of two years. Cost: $21,367

Oakland View. Additional room. I. R. Showalter, builder. Cost: $1365

Fairview (Central) additional room. Broadway Hardwood Company, builder. People paid 1/4 cost.

Crossroads (Linville) One room. People paid $170. Luther Zirkle, builder. Cost: $1000

1926

Dayton. Auditorium and 5 classrooms. Dayton patrons paid $6000 in donations toward cost of building. Broadway Hardwood Company, builders. (not including heat and plumbing) $19,936. Heat about $2000. Total cost: $22,000

Broadway. Auditorium and agriculture rooms. Patrons subscribed $5000. Built by local committee by hiring foreman. Sam Shutter, head carpenter. R. B. Strickler (principal) employed to buy material and act as paymaster and boss. Total cost $15,000

Lynnwood. Additional room. Cost $1000. John Eutsler, builder.

1927

(No building done in 1927)

1928

Bergton. One room added to the two-room building already there. People put up about $500. County paid $725. Arthur Wilkins, builder. Total cost $1225

Mt. Vernon. One room building. Eusler Brothers, contractor. Cost: $1550

White Hall. Old building (old Hoover school) renewed in order to give place for another teacher . Building moved close to new White Hall building. R. N. Gowl, builder. Cost $425
