The Green Hill School was located about one mile east of Singers
Glen a short distance north of the intersection of the Green Hill
Road (Route 721) and the Mt. Zion Road (Route 752). The building
still stands (1997) and is an outbuilding at the Raymond Whetzel
residence. The Green Hill school was a one-room frame building on
land purchased from Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Howver on November 8, 1875.
The deed was made to the Linville District trustees, Timothy Funk, H.
N. Beery, and R. Harrison. The Green Hill school operated until 1903
when it was consolidated with several other small schools in the
Singers Glen area to form the new Singers Glen consolidated school.
