Garber's School

 

The Garber's School was a two-room frame building constructed in 1902 to replace an older school called the Union school. The school was located about 3 miles northwest of Broadway at the intersection of Andrick Lane and Crossroads Lane. The Garbers School was also known locally as the Crossroads school. Land for the Garber's School was deeded to the Plains District School Board on July 20, 1901 by J. A. Garber. The Garbers school operated until it was closed in 1934. It was difficult for the school to maintain a population sufficient to justify two teachers so for the last 14 years of its existence it was a one-teacher school. After the school was closed the building was torn down and the lumber was salvaged for use for the new shop building at Timberville High School.
