Forest Grove School

The Forest Grove School was located a few yards northeast off Road 717 about 1 1/4 miles southeast of Fellowship Church in Linville District. The building, a one-room frame building had a set of steps leading from the front door to a gallery above.

The land was deeded to the Linville District School Board (trustees: William C. Flook, Philip Layman, and Robert A. Harrison) by Abraham Harrison and his wife, Delilah. The building was under construction when the deed was entered on April 2, 1881. The first year of operation for Forest Grove was the 1881-82 school year. The deed, like many deeds of land for school purposes, stated that the land "shall be used for a school house and free church in which all orthodox denominations may hold religious services. . ." and "the deed shall be made free of charge to the said trustees for the benefit of said subscribers so long as said property be used for the above named purpose. . ."
