The Fairview school in Linville District was located about 1/2 miles south of Singers Glen. The building was a one-room frame building constructed in 1877. The school was sometimes referred to as "the school in Barbara Swank's woods", a reference to its wooded setting and location. The school is noted but not named in Lakes's 1885 Atlas of Rockingham County. Teachers are the Fairview school are unknown. The Fairview school was closed when the 4-room Singers Glen school was built in 1903.
