The Cedar Dale School was located in the northeast corner of
Central District a short distance north of Keezletown and was
identified as school #24 in Central District records. The school was
located in a field on the west side of the Mountain Road (currently
Route 620). The date of construction of the school is unknown but the
current owners believe that the building probably existed as early as
1870, possibly predating the public school system. The school is
indicated in Lake's 1885 Atlas of Rockingham County. The building was
a one-room frame building. In recent years it has been partially
restored. Records indicate that the school closed after the 1909-1910
school session.
