Very little is known about this early school in Brock's Gap. It was located on the east side of the road between Broadway and Mathias Brock's Gap Road a few miles north of Fulks Run. The school is shown as School #38 in Lake's 1885 Atlas and was located on land apparently deeded to the Plains District school trustees by M. S. Brake. The school was probably closed in 1885 when the Whitmer school was built a short distance south of the Brake school. Teachers at the Brake school are also unknown.
