Bowman's School is listed as school # 5 in the Ashby District building survey of 1886. This one room school was located 1/2 mile south of Peach Grove near the William Bowman property. The school is not shown on Lake's 1885 Atlas of Rockingham County but the William Bowman property is shown. Bowman's School was built in 1883. The teachers at Bowman's are unknown but the school served the community until 1905. The property was sold to Dr. Conger in 1905 for $22.50.
