Their agenda was packed with hands-on activities and included watching videos of fantastic lessons and discussing the characteristics of highly effective math classrooms. They played team-building games that required good communication and used manipulatives to work from a concrete example to a pictorial representation to an abstract equation.
"It was a great day! RCPS principals and assistant principals were able to collaborate with our colleagues in Harrisonburg City, and we learned from one another about strategies that work well in our elementary schools. We are looking forward to our follow-up day in September, where we will continue our discussions and create action plans to continue to improve our robust math programs in each of our schools," noted Mrs. Gibson.
