I hope the new school year is off to a wonderful start. To add to the excitement of the new school year, I am proud to announce that your school has been selected as one of 66 Virginia Schools being recognized for your efforts as a Virginia Naturally School, congratulations! Nineteen schools are being recognized for the first time while six schools have made it to the 10 year mark and five schools are continuing past 10 years. The applications this year were amazing and I loved all the wonderful pictures of the students and of gardens and other efforts you sent.
Over 30,000 students attend the 66 schools, learning about the environment and how to be good stewards of the Commonwealth‚ natural resources. Job well done, please congratulate your students for their efforts. Teachers also played a major role in achieving this recognition for your school.
We are recognizing individual teachers for their efforts this upcoming school year through the Governor’s Conservation Classroom Challenge. From October 1st through June 30th, teachers can apply for a certificate celebrating their efforts in conducting environmental field investigations as part of Governor McAuliffe Executive Order #42.
Congratulations again and thank you.
