Welcome to J. Frank Hillyard Middle School! The sixth grade is divided into five teams. The name of your team is the Adventurers. Your teachers will be Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Maddox.
We hope your summer is going well. We are looking forward to the beginning of the school year and are making plans for a fun and successful year.
We realize you are also making plans and are preparing for your first year at JFH. Gathering and organizing school supplies is an important part of your preparation. Being prepared for class by having the appropriate supplies will help make your year a success. The following is a list of supplies that we request you have:
6 - 70 page or less spiral bound notebooks - (Please DO NOT mark notebooks with your
child’s name. Notebooks without perforated pages would be best because they will
be used for Science & Social Studies units throughout the year, and we WILL NOT
be tearing out pages.)
1 - marble notebook (the kind where the pages are sewn in and won’t come out)
1 - 1 1/2” 3 ring binder (Please do not send a notebook larger than this.)
6 pks. of wide-ruled loose leaf notebook paper
2 large glue sticks
1 large pack of pencils (any type as long as they are #2 lead)
1 pkg. of 2 highlighters
1 zipper pouch for inside notebook to carry pencils, glue sticks, etc.
If you are able, please send in one or more of the following items. We use many of these items throughout the year and would greatly appreciate any donations.
Large canisters of antibacterial wipes
Large boxes of Kleenex
Rolls of paper towels
Large glue sticks
Orientation for sixth graders will be held in August. Orientation is a special opportunity to meet the teachers and students on your team. On this evening, teachers will share information about daily routines and team expectations and will answer any questions that you may have about the sixth grade. (You will receive your schedule at registration. Please bring it with you to orientation.) We look forward to meeting you at orientation!
Have a great summer and get ready for a fun and successful school year.
Sincerely,
The Sixth Grade Teachers of JFH
