The National FFA Organization is a national organization of 449,814 members preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology or agriculture. The organization has 7,241 local chapters located throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.
The National FFA Organization mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. This mission is being accomplished at the J. Frank Hillyard FFA Chapter. Many activities take place at Hillyard FFA to help students learn more about leadership. Students participate in the Middle School FFA Contests; conduct semester meetings; participate in the Broadway High School Homecoming Parade; sell Poinsettias in the fall and bedding plants in the spring from the FFA Greenhouse; and traveling, which is another exciting part of being in the FFA. Students attend the National FFA Convention each year. One of the highlights of the year is to travel to Blacksburg, VA for the Virginia FFA Convention. Students participate in contests, attend convention sessions with motivational speakers and meet FFA members from across the state.
Currently, we have over 100 students enrolled in Agriscience with 100% membership in the FFA. The JFH FFA Chapter will also be recognized as a Superior Chapter at this year's FFA State Convention. .
Congratulations to the new 2009-2010 FFA Officer Team: President: Julia Liskey
