School Board Names Dr. Seth Muraskin as SHS Principal

The Rockingham County School Board appointed Seth P. Muraskin as Principal of Spotswood High School for the 2009-10 school year at its May 12 meeting. 

Currently, Dr. Muraskin is Assistant Principal at William Monroe High School in Greene County completing his fourth year.  He is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University, New Haven, CT, earned a Master of Education in Special Education from University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a doctorate and endorsement in Administration and Supervision from the University of Virginia. 

Dr. Muraskin’s experience is widespread and encompasses all aspects of high school administration — student achievement, program and curriculum development, budget management, parent and community involvement, teacher recruitment and effective evaluation, special needs students, athletics and student club leadership, school and division safety including surveillance, alert-systems and anti-bullying initiatives.

Dr. Muraskin will officially join the faculty July 1, 2009, to work with the school community.  He is married and has two children.  Dr. Fenn, Rockingham County Public Schools Division Superintendent, states, “You will find Dr. Muraskin to be approachable, caring, and ready to lead and work with the Spotswood community.  We are thrilled to have him come to Rockingham.”
