RCPS Accepts the "Steppin' Out" Challenge from the RMH Wellness Center

Steppin Out

At the March 14 School Board Meeting, the RCPS Board accepted a challenge from the Rockingham Memorial Hospital's Wellness Center to participate in the "Steppin' Out" program.  “Steppin’ Out” is a national challenge to walk 70,000 steps in 7 days from April 24 through 30, Monday through Sunday. Steppin’ Out is a way for communities across the nation to raise awareness about the childhood obesity epidemic, become more active, and raise funds for local childhood obesity programming in a very easy way.

RMH will provide a free pedometer and tracking log for any participating RCPS employee.  To participate, employees contact the person at their school who has been designated to coordinate this project and receive a voucher which can be redeemed at the RMH Wellness Center for the pedometer and tracking log.  RCPS employees do not have to be members of the Wellness Center to participate.

During the week of April 24-30, participants are challenged to walk 10,000 steps per day and record their daily totals on the tracking log.  The logs are to be returned to the school designee by May 5 to get credit for the steps.
Also, during the week there will be free health screenings at the RMH Wellness Center.  RMH is offering 50% off the enrollment fee until May 31.
