Showker Family Makes Second Donation to RCPS: SMARTBoards & Projectors
Joe and Debbie Showker Announce Competitive Grant through REFI
In addition to the Apple mobile labs donated to each RCPS middle school, the family of the late Zane Showker continues to follow his vision to improve the quality of education and living in our community. Joe and Debbie Showker are providing funds for seven SMARTBoards and projection systems to be awarded to schools through a competitive grant administered by REFI.
The grant applications are due March 4 and awards are to be made March 18. Applications are school-based and include a description of how teachers in the school are to be encouraged to use SMARTBoard technology in teaching and a promise to submit at least ten teaching activities which will be shared through the RCPS website with other teachers.
When combined with the Apple mobile lab donation, the total amount donated to Rockingham County and Harrisonburg City Public Schools through the Showker Technology Initiative tops $200,000. For details about the Mobile Lab donation, click here.
