TEACHER SUPPLY DEPOT HAS GRAND OPENING
Pictured below are excited teachers on their first visit to The Teacher Supply Depot. The Teacher Supply Depot is a joint project of the Rockingham Educational Foundation, Inc. (REFI) and the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce. The Depot will be open every Thursday afternoon from 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM when school is in session. (The hours were changed to allow all schools more of an opportunity to arrive at a similar time.) On teacher workdays, the hours will be extended and a schedule will be distributed later.
The Depot is a warehouse of reusable materials donated by businesses and community members. These materials are distributed free to teachers to enhance instruction in the classroom and promote student achievement. Items are for classroom use only and become the property of the school district and not personal property of the individual teacher. Everything is free but some items may be limited. Teachers will be able to take limited items for their classroom only, individuals may not gather limited items for others at their school.
Eventually the Depot's inventory will be posted on this website so teachers will know what supplies are available. The supplies change from week to week.
If you have questions or ideas to support the Depot, please contact the Foundation's Office at 564-3218 or by email at refi@rockingham.k12.va.us
Some of the items selected on the first day of business included an 8 foot dry erase board, a walnut bookcase, a 12 foot conference table, walnut side table, file cabinet, lateral file cabinet, desk, 8' X 8' shelving, lots of 10x20 80# paper, yardsticks, children's books, pens, pencils, file folders, report covers, printer, picture cards, Compaq computer and monitor, desk trays, etc! None of these items were on sale, they were all free!
