New Teacher Orientation
New teachers gather at the orientation session held at Bridgewater Retirement Center on August 12.

RCPS welcomes approximately 90 new teachers for the 2003-2004 school year. Executive Director of Human Resource Stephanie Dearing directed the newly hired personnel through an orientation session held August 12-14. The program for August 12 included a welcome from Ms. Dearing, Superintendent John Kidd, and School Board member Mr. John Myers. Dr. Fred Kennon, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, shared a message about Instructional Leadership with the group followed by an administrative overview of the Food Service, School Finance, Maintenance, and Transportation departments. Later that day, the program included a presentation about the technology in RCPS by Joe Hill and various personnel issues by Ms. Dearing.

The program for August 13 included a presentation from School Board Attorney Doug Guynn, a Special Education program by Scott Hand, and a Benefits program. The program for August 14 included a session by Dr. Kidd about grading and assessment, a "First Days of School" presentation by Linville Edom Principal Sandy Cupp, and an overview of all of the RCPS instructional programs by various supervisors.
