All Schools and the Division Achieve AYP Benchmarks
RCPS One of 17 Divisions in the State in which all Schools and the Division Meet or Exceed NCLB Objectives
Results for Virginia schools on the 2007-08 No Child Left Behind (NCLB) assessments were released on August 27, 2008. Rockingham County was identified as one of only 17 of the 133 school divisions in Virginia in which all schools made AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) benchmarks and the Division also made AYP. These divisions, along with Rockingham, were Alleghany County, Bath County, Galax, Goochland County, Halifax County, Hanover County, Lexington, Manassas Park, Mecklenburg County, Norton, Patrick County, Radford, Roanoke County, Scott County, West Point, and Wise County.
According to Dr. Carol Fenn, Division Superintendent, "Rockingham County Schools' success for meeting AYP as a part of the NCLB legislation is exciting. The best practices and excellence demonstrated by our instructional staff continue to be outstanding. Each child is our focus and will continue to deserve our attention and rigor for their best education. I applaud all Rockingham County School employees for contributing to the success of our school division, and making a difference for each child. Our schools place tremendous value on our children and families."
Statewide, 74% of Schools made the AYP mark.
