2010-11 Teachers of the Year

Rhodes Named 2010-11 Rockingham Teacher of the Year

The Rockingham Educational Foundation, Inc. and the law firm of Wharton, Aldhizer and Weaver presented the Lucy Simms Educator of the Year Award to Mr. Don Rhodes, an agriscience teacher at J. Frank Hillyard Middle School. Teacher recognition is a core program for REFI. One teacher from each school is honored as its Teacher of the Year. One teacher is then selected by a review committee to compete at the regional level for the Virginia Department of Education. Rhodes will prepare for that competition throughout the year.

** Please note that "Teachers of the Year" are selected in the spring for the FOLLOWING year. Since East Rockingham High School was not open in the spring of 2010, there is no 2010-11 teacher named for that school. In the spring of 2011, ERHS will select its teacher for the following academic year. Spotswood's Tammy Stone, however, is currently a teacher at East Rockingham High School!
