Program Requirements, Goals, and Overview
Student Eligibility Requirements
* The ELL Intensive English Program is for newly arrived, non-English speaking students
Program Goals
* To provide intensive English instruction for middle and high school non-English students
* To help ease the transition into middle and high school
* To help non-English speaking students adjust and feel more comfortable in their new environment
Program Overview
* Highly-qualified staff of ELL teachers and tutors
* Small class size (10:1 Student/Teacher ratio)
* A Monday through Friday program at Dayton Learning Center
* Attendance in regular classes at their respective middle or high school for a portion of the day
* Bus transportation provided
* Ability to earn at least two high school credits in the ELL Intensive English Program for high school students
* Ability to participate in a pre-GED program for older ELL students
