Special Education Department

A free and appropriate public education is provided disabled persons ages two through twenty-one who live in Rockingham County. Programs and services are provided to persons who meet the following criteria:

  • Mentally retarded
  • Learning disabled
  • Hearing impaired
  • Seriously emotionally disturbed
  • Orthopedically impaired
  • Multiply disabled
  • Speech/Language impaired
  • Developmentally delayed
  • Visually impaired
  • Autistic
  • Deaf
  • Deaf/Blind
  • Severely and profoundly disabled
  • Other health impaired
  • Traumatically brain injured
