Extracurricular Activities -
SHS has many activities through which students can experience theatre outside of the classroom.

Drama Club and the International Honors Society - SHS's Drama Club is linked to our chapter of the International Honor's Society, founded in 2004. The International Honors Society (ITS) is an educational theatre organization created to honor and foster high school theatre. Members are inducted after completing a minimum of 100 hours in theatre work. Drama club sponsors field trips to see live theatre and raises funds for SHS productions.

One Act - Each year, SHS produces a one act play which performs at the Virginia High School League Valley District Festival, with the opportunity to advance to Regionals and States. This one act also competes at Virginia Theatre Association's State conference.

The 2007-2008 production, The Good Doctor, placed second at districts and first at regionals.

The 2008-2009 production, The Lady is Not for Burning, ranked among the top five competition plays at VTA.

Musical:
The Theatre Department co-sponsors the musical with the music department, and features a live orchestra and amazing sets and costumes.
