The Lawn Dale School was located at the southwest corner of the intersection of the Keezletown Road and the road leading to Frieden's Church in central Ashby District. The actual name of the school is some mystery because it is also referred to as the Landsdale School and the Lonsdale School. In Lake's 1885 Atlas of Rockingham County, it is listed as the Lawn Dale School #20. The Lawn Dale School was a one-room frame structure built in 1880. There is no information available concerning the teachers at the Lawn Dale School. In 1903, the Lawn Dale building was moved a short distance north to the location of the two-room Meyerhoeffer's School and combined with that school to form the new Timber Ridge School.
