Wenger School

The Wenger School was located on the road leading from Linville to Wenger's Mill in the northcentral part of Linville District. The school is noted but not named in Lake's 1885 Atlas of Rockingham County. The Wenger School (sometimes called Wenger's Hill) was a one-room frame building. It was built on land deeded to the Linville District School Board on November 24, 1880 by Isaac Wenger and wife and first opened for the 1880-81 school session. Agnes Kline give some information about the Wenger School in her book "Old Schools on Linville Creek." She names several of the teachers who taught at the school but does not indicate the exact dates they taught.

The Wenger School closed when Linville-Edom School was built in 1912 and the students were transported to the new school.
