Virginia School

 

The Virginia school was one of the oldest schools in west Rockingham, possibly predating the Civil War. The school is indicated as Virginia School #22 in Lake's 1885 Atlas of Rockingham County. The school was located west of Mt. Clinton on west side of the Back Road (now Route 613). The school was a one-room school of frame construction. The Virginia school was closed in 1900. Teachers known to have taught at the Virginia school are:
