Tunis Creek School

The Tunis Creek school was located about six miles northwest of Cootes Store on what is currently Route 610. On April 12, 1911, land was deeded by E. R. Estep and wife for the Tunis Creek schoolhouse. This building replaced an earlier school in the neighborhood. In 1922, this building burned and was replaced by a new building. The new building was built at a cost of $1100 by E. N. Lindamood. For two years, the Tunis Creek shared a teacher with the Smith school located a few miles to the west.
