Strayers School

The Strayers school was located about one and one half miles north of Port Republic on the west side of the Shenandoah River. The school was located on property deeded to the Stonewall District School Board by Anna Strayer. The exact date of construction of the Strayers school is unknown but it is listed and named in Lake's 1885 Atlas of Rockingham County. Strayers school was closed after the 1901-02 school session and the property was sold.
