The Ritchie School was located on Dry River in Brock's Gap in the northwest corner of Linville District. The school replaced an earlier school known as the Dry River or Brady school. Land for the Ritchie school was deeded to the Linville District school trustees by George W. Brady on October 18, 1901 and the school began operation during the 1901-02 school year. The school had difficulty maintaining a legal average during its last years and it was closed early in the 1919-20 school session. The earliest teachers at the Ritchie school are unknown. Teachers known to have taught at the Ritchie school are:
-13 Robert L. Souder
-16 Ruth K. Neff
-17 Mary M. Pugh
-18 Aron E. Aronson
-19 Maynard Hoover
-20 Bessie Senger (school closed early in school year due to low attendance)
