Port Republic Colored School

 

The land for the Port Republic Colored School was deeded to the Stonewall District School Board of November 3, 1881 by A. D. Armentrout and wife. The school was located a short distance east of the railroad depot and is indicated on Lake's 1885 Atlas of Rockingham County. The earliest teachers at the Port Republic Colored School are unknown. The Port Republic Colored School was closed in 1920. Teachers known to have taught at Port Republic (Colored) are:
