Pleasant Grove School #34
From 1886 Building survey:
This house is frame and owned by the district and is located on the
west side of the Valley Turnpike two miles south of Mt. Crawford and
adjoining the Pleasant Grove church lot. Has one outhouse 1/4 acre
land attached acquired by purchase. Height of house 18 feet one story
and one room with 7 windows, eighteen light 10 x 12" glass with
window blinds. Size of room 22 x 28. Ceiling 12 feet high. Has no
ventilation. Room contains 18 desks, one teacher's desk, one bench,
one stove and seven yards blackboard.

The Pleasant Grove schoolhouse burned during the session of 1903-04
and was apparently rebuilt immediately.

On May 11, 1926, the Rockingham County School Board voted to close
the Grove School.
On June 8, 1926, the Board voted to re-consider as a family with six
children moved into the community. They appointed Lela Bricker as
teacher.
On May 10, 1927, the Board voted again to close the school. On
November 12, 1929, they voted to sell the Grove building and lot.
