Ottobine Elementary School opened in the fall of 1958 and was one of the small elementary schools built during the late 1950s and early 1960s. Ottobine was a seven-room elementary school built by Thorington Construction Company at a cost of $118,000. It was nearly identical in design to the new Bergton school built at the same time. The school at Ottobine consolidated the older schools at Clover Hill and Briery Branch. In 1967, additional classrooms were constructed at Ottobine and in 1978, a multi-purpose room was built. In 1991, the school was extensively renovated.
