Oakland View School

 

The Oakland View school was located in Ashby district a few miles south of Dale Enterprise at Coakleytown. The Oakland View school was built about 1912 as a one-room school. In 1914, land was deeded to the Ashby District school trustees by P. J. Heatwole for a new one-room brick school. This new school was first opened during the 1914-15 school session. An additional room was built at the school in 1925 by I. R. Showalter at a cost of $1365. The school continued as a two-teacher school through the 1942-43 school session when it became a one-teacher school until it was closed in 1951. Teachers known to have taught at Oakland View are:
