The Myers school was located on the road between Bowman's Mill and Broadway near Tide Spring in Linville District. The school is identified in Lake's 1885 Atlas of Rockingham County. The school, a one-room frame building, was constructed in 1882. The school was also known as the Rock Valley school because of surrounding rocks. Agnes Kline gives an interesting account of the Myers school in her book, "Old Schools on Linville Creek". According to Miss Kline, the Myers School was a center of community life and was used for many educational and social activities. The exact date of the closing of Myers school is unknown but it is believed to have closed about 1900. Teachers known to have taught at Myers (Rock Valley) are:
1893-94 Ada Baugh
1894-95 Ottie Showalter
1899-1900 Nelie Wampler
