The Mt. Tabor school was located about one mile south of Lacey Spring on the Valley Pike (U. S. Route 11). The one-room frame building was located on the east side of the highway. The school was sometimes referred to as the Petersburg school due to its location on property deeded to the Linville District School Board by Peter Long. The school was constructed in 1884 and was closed about 1905. Teachers at the Mt. Tabor school are unknown.
