Mauck's School

Mauck's school was located west of Timberville in Plains District. This one-room school was built in 1882 on the Mountain Road a short distance south of Mt. Olivet Church. The only known teacher at Mauck's was John F. Cootes, who taught at Mauck's in 1882-83. Little is known about this early school and it was probably absorbed into the Orebaugh school in the early 1900s. It is not listed in the Plains District School Board minutes for 1908.
