Rockingham County Public Schools First Grade Computer Technology Benchmarks   A Guide for Parent Involvement   Objective: First grade students will begin development of word processing and research skills.
1st Six Weeks 1.1 The student will identify computer related technologies in the classroom. (C/T5.1)	2nd Six Weeks 1.2 The student will develop a basic technology vocabulary that includes backspace key, shift key, print, printout/hardcopy, save, main menu, menu bar, pull down menu, font, close, open, and quit. (C/T5.1)	3rd Six Weeks 1.4 The student will locate and use the punctuation keys (shift key). (C/T5.3) 1.5 The student will locate and use shift keys for capitalization. (C/T5.3)
4th Six Weeks 1.7 The student will demonstrate proper use and care of hardware and software. (C/T5.1)	5th Six Weeks 1.3 The student will identify computer program features including main menu, menu bar, close box, pull down menu, tool palette, print, quit, open, and save. (C/T5.1) 1.5 The student will create, print, and remove a document from the printer. (C/T5.3)	6th Six Weeks 1.8 The student will begin to use electronic dictionary and encyclopedias. (C/T5.3)
