Seventh Grade Computer Technology
Course Description
Students will develop a foundation of proper keyboarding skills and
basic computer operation, including document-processing skills.
Students will spend a minimum of 30-minutes per class in concentration
keyboarding practice in addition to developing their document
processing skills.
- This course is in the Career & Technical Education Department
and involves the merging of several requirements including
Computer/Technology SOLs, CTE Course Task Lists and Competencies, VDOE
Internet Safety guidelines, and local school division course benchmarks.
- Upon the completion of both year courses (Computer 7 &
Computer 8), students will earn a high school credit. On
students’ transcripts, the credit lists as Computer Lit 8
(0120).
- The Computer 7 curriculum was revised in 2008 to include
keyboarding and limited document processing. Other topics (database,
spreadsheet, graphics, communications via the Internet) that were
previously taught in Computer 7 are taught in Computer 8.
