Multiplication War
Cards Needed: One full standard card deck (per pair of students) with all face cards removed. Jokers may also be included to count as 0's. Directions: This game is similar to the traditional card game of War except that it involves turning over two cards instead of one and multiplying to see who has the highest product. Students play in pairs against each other. Each pair is given a deck of cards. The cards are dealt so that each student receives the same number of cards. Each student flips over two cards at one time. Each student finds the product of the two numbers on his cards. Aces count as 1's and Jokers as 0's. The student who has the greatest product gets to keep all four cards. If both students have the same product for their cards, the students then turn over three cards and another pair of two, saying "one, two, three, war." Whoever has the greatest product of the final two cards turned over then picks up all fourteen cards. Students will continue to play until one person has all the cards. That person is the winner.
