Hello future River Bend Students and Parents!

WHAT IS HAPPENING AT THE NEW SCHOOL?

Construction continues on our new school, and the progress has been remarkable.  Just last Thursday, I was able to walk through the school and see so many changes.  Walls are up, ceiling tiles are going in, and the front entrance looks outstanding.  The new gym is painted in red and white, our school colors, and it is beautiful!  The cafeteria and kitchen are taking shape and will be a special place to gather for breakfast and lunch.  The large library is looking fantastic and will house all of our new and exciting books.  Each classroom continues to be prepared for you and your teachers and is being designed with wonderful technology-SMART BOARDS and DOCUMENT CAMERAS!  Oh, Yeah!  The music and art rooms are being prepared and your teachers are in the process of ordering music materials and art supplies for your use this fall!

MASCOT

We need to pick the River Bend Mascot and I can’t think of anyone better to do that than you, the first students of River Bend.  Start thinking! When I come to see you next week, you can give me your suggestions.  Later, you will have a chance to vote on your favorite mascot.  Each of you will be making history as the first student body to choose the school mascot!  Wow, now that’s exciting!

FIELD TRIP TO RIVER BEND

We are planning a trip to the new school as soon as construction is complete.  We hope we can visit sometime in June before school is out.  Remember, all the workers are still in the building working very hard to have the school ready for us.  This trip will give you an opportunity to see the new school site and possibly take a quick tour inside the building as well!

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

I am very happy to announce that Ms. Sharon Martz will be our assistant principal next year.  Ms. Martz has been an elementary and middle school teacher and has been the assistant principal at McGaheysville Elementary the past two years.  Ms. Martz is an excellent teacher and administrator, and we are very fortunate to have her on our team.  Welcome, Ms. Martz!

WHO ARE OUR TEACHERS?

I am proud to announce that our teaching staff is complete, and what a wonderful staff it is!  We have teachers from across the county coming to River Bend.  Some of the teachers you will already know, and others you will be meeting for the first time.  All of our teachers are outstanding and love working with young people.  They are eager to get started at River Bend and welcome the opportunity to work with you! Click to see members of our faculty and staff.

I want to wish each of you the very best as you prepare to take your SOL tests.  I know your teachers have prepared you well, and you are ready to take on this challenge.  Believe in yourself, and do your very best.  I know you will be successful!  Good Luck!
