Tip of the Month

Help your child select books on topics he or she is interested in and on their reading level. This is very important. If a book is too difficult for a child, then he or she will not be getting valuable practice reading and improving skills. A simple rule of thumb for helping your child select books at their reading level is to have them choose a page in the book (not the first one) and read it. If he or she does not know five or more of the words, then the book is too hard for pleasure reading.
