Instructional Program

Plains Elementary School is a Rockingham County Public School that serves Pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students in the Timberville area.

The Plains Elementary building was opened in 1972 and is divided into grade level units called pods. Each pod includes five or six classrooms, and the classroom teachers in each grade level work as a team. While each classroom is basically self-contained with different achievement levels, there is ample opportunity for teachers to reorganize their schedule to provide instructional groups that meet individual needs.

It is one of the goals of Plains Elementary School to educate students in such a way that they will be well rounded in all areas. The basic curriculum offered at Plains is as follows:

  • Reading/English
