Dear Parents,
As we make our way through the
“winter stretch”, we hope that all members of the Plains Community are having a
positive school year. Please
continue to ensure that children wear a jacket to school, to help protect them
against cold temperatures.
Remember to keep an eye on the local television station and listen to
the local radio stations for any closings or delays that may occur. We also have a link on the Plains
Elementary web page regarding closings and delays. Just go to the school website and click on the icon for
closings and delays. The icon is
located on the right side, halfway down the page. That will take you to an area where you can view e-mails
from our transportation director regarding changes due to weather. You can also register to have a text
sent to your cell phone anytime there is a delay or closing in Rockingham
County Public Schools. All
you need to do is go to the county website, click on the Parents/Students tab,
click on the subject line that reads:
Parents can register to receive direct e-mails about school openings,
closings, and delays, and follow the directions at that location.
This also tends to be a time when
we experience a higher frequency of various illnesses in the school. With these illnesses present in our
school, regular attendance becomes more of an issue. Please help your children understand when it is appropriate
to come to school and when they should stay home. By working together, we
can keep the impact of these instances under control.
Have a Happy and Safe February,
Mr. Kile, Principal
