Music Program
The Plains music program has children meeting in half hour classes once a week, with performance groups meeting before school. These performing groups include the 5th Grade Orff Group on Friday mornings, the 5th Grade Chorus on Wednesday mornings, and the 4th Grade Chorus on Tuesday mornings. These are open to all children in those grades who wish to sing/play.
There will be performances by the choruses and Orff group - a Holiday Concert at December's PTA meeting (plus a school assembly), a field trip to sing at area nursing homes in the spring, and also a spring assembly. The pre-K, K and 1st grade grade classes will be presenting a musical at the March PTA meeting. The entire student body will be having a school-wide assembly (sing-a-long) in December before the holiday break.
The main focus of the music program is to hopefully instill a love a music into every child through singing, dancing, playing instruments, playing games, listening, and being creative; to have fun with music and to learn while having fun!
