Going Back in Time
6th Grade Challenge students enjoy a Medieval Feast after studying the life of Knights, Royalty and Peasants.  In true Medieval style students ate the meal without eating utensils.

Royalty, Lords and Ladies, and even common village people ate bread, cheeses, fruits, vegetables, and meat.  After the meal, a knight was dubbed.

Learning About the Salem Witch Trials - Students researched the individuals, conditions, and events that lead to the Salem Witch Trials. As a culminating activity, 7th Graders  dressed as a  specific individual involved in the trials and  presentated their findings  about the 17th-century Salem community.  Connections were made between the trials and other periods in history when fear controlled actions.

Learning the Role of a VA Delegate

7th Grade Challenge Students participated in a Leadership Conference sponsored by the YMCA.  Students took several Bills through the entire Legislative process of becoming a Law.  Bills were presented, sent to committee, brought before the General Assembly, challenged, defended, and amended.  Eventually a vote was taken. Some Bills passed and others were rejected.
