Student Council Association

The Student Council Association (SCA) at McGaheysville is very active in the school. It organizes community service projects such as food pantry collections. It also operates our school store which is open daily in the mornings until 8:45 a.m. The SCA has fundraisers of pizza and drink sales during Family Fun and Book Fair nights. The SCA offers monthly perks to teachers and students like poetry and candy in faculty mailboxes, special "dress up/School Spirit" days, and lucky desk stickers with prizes of free school supplies from the school store. SCA has also produced a monthly school news program that everyone in the school can watch on closed circuit television. The program is written by and features SCA members.

Grades 3 and 4 students who choose to run for SCA offices volunteer each spring. Each student must also obtain a written recommendation from a current or previous teacher. These candidates are narrowed down to 4 running for each office. These students run a "campaign," give speeches to the school body, and are voted into office for the next school year by students in grades 2-4. Students who ran in the final campaign who were not elected into office become the SCA representatives for the school the following year.
