"All Our Best....All the Time"

Welcome to J. Frank Hillyard Middle School! The sixth grade is divided into five teams. The name of your team is the Voyagers. Your teachers will be Mrs. Thomas, Ms. Hertzler, and Mrs. McKenzie.

We hope your summer is going well. We are looking forward to the beginning of the school year and are making plans for a fun and successful year.

We realize you are also making plans and are preparing for your first year at JFH. Gathering and organizing school supplies is an important part of your preparation. Being prepared for class by having the appropriate supplies will help make your year a success. The following is a list of supplies that we request you have:

4 - 1 or 1 1/2 inch binders (English, Math, Social Studies, and Science)

4 - sets of 5-tab dividers

2 - highlighters

4 - dry erase markers

1 - ream of computer paper

1 - multi-pack of glue sticks

1 - trapper keeper with a zipper pencil case

notebook paper, some may be kept at home

pencils (wooden or mechanical with replacement lead)

Optional items for homeroom use:

clorox wipes

tissues

1/2 size baggies

Optional items for home use:

scientific or 4-function calculator (students are not allowed to borrow school calculators)

protractor

ruler

colored pencils

markers

Orientation for sixth graders will be held in August. Orientation is a special opportunity to meet the teachers and students on your team. On this evening, teachers will share information about daily routines and team expectations and will answer any questions that you may have about the sixth grade. (You will receive your schedule at registration. Please bring it with you to orientation.) We look forward to meeting you at orientation!
