Welcome to J. Frank Hillyard Middle School! The sixth grade is divided into five teams. The name of your team is the Explorers. Your teachers will be Ms. Hill, Mrs. Offenbacker-Koogler and Mrs. Ritchie.

We hope your summer is going well. We are looking forward to the beginning of the school year and are making plans for a fun and successful year.

We realize you are also making plans and are preparing for your first year at JFH. Gathering and organizing school supplies is an important part of your preparation. Being prepared for class by having the appropriate supplies will help make your year a success. The following is a list of supplies that we request you have:

1. Two 3-ring binder, 1 1/2 inch width (will remain in English & Science classroom)

2. Three - Five dividers for 3-ring binders (1-Science/2-English)

3. Two packages of 5x8 lined index cards (for English classroom)

4. Four spiral notebooks (approximately 90 pages each, 1-math, 2- English, 1-Sci/SS)

5. Six – 2 pocket folders (2-math/2-English/2-Science&History)

6. Mechanical pencils with lead and erasers (for math) / pencils for other classes

7. Colored pencils

8. Three highlighters (2 for English/1 for Science/History)

9. Two packages of loose-leaf paper (wide ruled)

10. Four LARGE glue sticks

11. Trapper Keeper

12. Two dry erase markers (for Science/History)

13. Markers – 8 count (for English)

Optional items for homeroom donations: tissues, baby wipes, and antibacterial wipes

Orientation for sixth graders will be held in August. Orientation is a special opportunity to meet the teachers and students on your team. On this evening, teachers will share information about daily routines and team expectations and will answer any questions that you may have about the sixth grade. (You will receive your schedule at registration. Please bring it with you to orientation.) We look forward to meeting you at orientation!
