TAHS DECA Supports Local Families through "Angel Tree Project"

Throughout the holiday season, Turner Ashby DECA coordinated its efforts with Social Services to help make this Christmas a special one for many in our area, both young and old, who are in need. The group of students fulfilled the wish lists of 100 children from Social Services totalling almost $5,000 in gifts. The TAHS students also collected 350 cans for the elderly, made 250 stockings for the elderly, and made 250 stockings for the children.

They plan to help Social Services convert the Westover Recreation Center into "Santa's Workshop" and on Saturday, December 13th, the DECA students will become "Santa's elves" and help hand out presents, create crafts with the children, and facilitate the gift giving event.

"I'm extremely proud of these students," stated DECA Advisor Melissa Talley on her students' extraordinary efforts.
